Stockbridge was formed from Vernon & Augusta, in Oneida county, and Smithfield & Lenox in Madison county, May 20, 1836, & named from the Stockbridge Indians who were the owners & occupants of most of the town at a former day.
Nathan married Mary Hall, daughter of Unknown Hall and Anna Giffins, on 2 Sep 1766 in Bridgewater, Massachusetts, USA. (Mary Hall was born about 1740 in Prob. Raynham, MA 22 and died on 12 Dec 1836 in Stockbridge, Madison, New York 22.)
