bullet  General Notes:

Note: Sarah Davis is Helen Rose Davis Hawkins' 5th Great-Grandaunt.
Phillip Rowell is Dan Albert Hawkins' 2nd Cousin 7 Times Removed. True, this is a rather distant relationship but it does show the connection between the Davis family and the Rowell family. A connection that I find fasinating. - hrh

Sarah is mention in both the Davis Genealogy and the Rowell Genealogy.

The following is quoted from the "The Davis Family from 'Old Families of Salisbury and Amesbury' "

" The above is given as highly probable for the following reasons:
We have found no record of a Sarah Davis who could have married Philip Rowell. The Amesbury vital records are missing from 1677 to 1685 [pg 28], and the church records are also lost.
This gap in the records of Amesbury families can sometimes be filled, in part at least, by means of probate records and deeds, as appears in the third or fouth generations of the Colby, Currier, Huntington, Martin, Rowell, Weed, Wells and other families.
Two additional daughters were recently found for the family of (3) Hoyt [pp 981-2] and probably two for that of (4) Samuel Foot [p 961]. Two sons, (95) Thomas and (96a) Samuel, have been added to the family of (92) Francis Davis, pp. 130, 726-8. As (96) Francis was the "3d son," either (95) Thomas or (96a) Samuel, and perhaps two or three daughters were born within that period. If there were a second wife Mary, as suggested on p. 726, there may have been only one daughter not recorded.
(93) John Davis, (94) Gertrude Sargent and Philip Rowell [951 Sarah] each had a daughter Alice, all apparently named for their grandmother Alice, wife of Walter Taylor. The birth of no other Alice Rowell or Davis appears on the A.V.R. and only two other Alice Sargents, of a later generation. (95) Thomas Davis had a granddaughter named Alice, born in Newton, in 1748. (97) John Davis (possibly a brother of (92) Francis] had a son Ichabod Bowden. Philip Rowell had a son, and (96) Francis Davis a grandson, each named Ichabod, the only ones of that name amoung the early Amesbury Rowells and Davises. (96) Francis Davis had a son Philip, the only one of that name in the Amesbury Davis families, though a tradition doubtfully mentioned an earlier Philip.
These Davises and Rowells seem to have lived near each other in the West Parish, owning adjoining lands in some cases."
